Cubot is popular among people who prefer not to
spend a load of money for a smartphone but want something affordable that does
pretty much everything. After the successful launch of the first sports phone
Cubot Quest that became instantly popular, the Chinese manufacturer recently
announced that they are about to launch a new J-series phone, named CUBOT J7
that is placed in the entry-level market segment.
The info on the official product page talks about a
phone featuring a 5.7″ HD+ IPS display. On the inside, Cubot equips the J7 with
the MT6580 4-core SoC that clocks up to 1.3GHz backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of
internal storage. Despite the affordable price, it comes with a 13MP/2MP dual
rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP selfie shooter. The battery isn’t very
big (2800mAh) but taking into consideration the HD+ resolution and the
power-friendly SoC, it should take you through about a day. Lastly, the J7 is
powered by Android 9 Pie.
The Cubot J7 is mainly for people who are looking to
make the transition from feature phones to a smartphone or for a student who
needs something affordable. It would also be perfect for a backup device in
case of damage to your main device. Cubot J7 will be released at the end of May
or early June. Although the price is not certain yet, it will definitely be a
positive surprise.
