Meet the Asus Zenfone 6 Edition 30, just unveiled at
Computex in Taiwan. To be fair, it's not just a differently specced version
that will be sold under the same name, so Asus isn't actually going back to its
old tropes. The name is longer because the point of this phone is to celebrate
Asus' 30th anniversary.
As such, it will be a limited edition - only 3,000
will ever be made. It will come with VIP benefits and an exclusive 30-month
warranty, but the headline additions to this model are definitely the 12GB of
RAM and 512GB of built-in storage.
If you shell out what we can only assume will be top
dollar for this handset (Asus isn't announcing pricing yet), you'll also get an
exclusive Matte Black colorway and design, with "iconic Zen-inspired
concentric-circle patterning" and "distinctive Edition 30 logo".
Otherwise, this is the same Zenfone 6 we've been
talking about for a few weeks now. It includes the awe-inspiring flip camera
with the 48 MP Sony IMX586 main sensor and a 13 MP ultra-wide snapper with
125-degree field-of-view. The combo just received a record-breaking selfie
score from DxOMark. You also get the Snapdragon 855 chipset, 5,000 mAh battery, and
stock-like Android 9 Pie software experience, along with the 6.4" 1080p+
notch-less display.
