If you have ever wanted to own your very own
satellite, a new DIY kit launched via Kickstarter allows you to build your very
own satellite launched into space. The AmbaSat-1 is a tiny Space satellite kit
that you assemble and code yourself is now available from £ 35. The project providing an easy way
to build your very own spacecraft and have it launched into low Earth orbit.
AmbaSat-1 is part of a new generation of satellites
known as Sprite satellites. They are tiny spacecraft measuring 35 mm square and
just a few millimetres thick. Pioneered by the original KickSat, the compnaies
goal is to launch groups of AmbaSat-1 satellites onboard a commercial rocket.
By shrinking the spacecraft, up to 200 satellites can be launched at a time,
reducing costs.
