Seven months after the launch of Redmi Y2, its
successor is about to arrive. Xiaomi India asked “y just selfies, y not 32 MP
super selfies”, teasing the arrival of Redmi Y3, with, you guessed it, 32 MP
selfie camera. The launch will take place next week on April 24.
Looking at the teaser, the phone will clearly have a
waterdrop notch. Another interesting thing is the Redmi Y3 might be an entirely
new phone, unlike the Redmi Y2, which is a rebranded Redmi S2, or the Redmi Y1
which was initially introduced as Redmi Note 5A.
Once it arrives, the Redmi Y3 will become the Xiaomi
phone with the highest resolution selfie camera. Up until now, the Mi Mix 3
arrived with a 24 MP shooter, while the Mi 9 has a 20 MP sensor. We expect the
new phone to have the Samsung ISOCELL GD1 sensor which uses a Quad-Bayer layer
and effective functions as an 8MP imager with huge pixels and real-time HDR.
Other specs are unknown, but we expect some to leak
in the 10 days leading to the official event. Some fans are hoping for a Mi A3
arrival as well, but Xiaomi India immediately shot down the idea in various
Twitter conversations.
