Xiaomi, which is one of the most popular smartphone
manufacturers, has also established its presence in the lifestyle products
category. The company is growing rapidly when it comes to smart TVs with its Mi
TV lineup. It is all set to refresh its Mi TV lineup with new products for the
Spring season, which will be unveiled on 23rd April, i.e. tomorrow. While not
much is known about the upcoming Mi TV units, the company has shared a poster
online that showcases a camera sensor.
The teaser poster of the upcoming Mi TV shows that
the device will come with a camera sensor on the top-right corner. If this
turns out to be true, then this could be the Chinese company’s first TV to
support camera sensor.
There are two possibilities with the addition of a
camera sensor. Either the company plans to offer video calling support or it
could introduce gesture-based operations for the television, a step forward
compared to the voice-based inputs currently supported.
It has already been confirmed that the new Mi TV
will come with improved rear design and better remote control. Xiaomi is
focusing on bringing a full design overhaul, and will equally focus on the
front and back of the TV. New design aesthetics will also improve the overall
quality of Xiaomi Mi TV.
The highlight of Xiaomi’s TV is the operating
system, which is a custom version build on top of Android. It features
PatchWall user interface which comes with an improved content recommendation based
on the user’s interaction. Users can quickly get access to movies, series, and
music while using the PatchWall.
The new Xiaomi TV models are launching in China on
23rd April. While the global availability remains unknown, the product could be
rushed in the Indian market, where the company is getting success with its TV
models as well.
