Anker is preparing to launch a new charger following
on from the recent launch of its first gallium nitride (GaN) charger the 30W
PowerPort Atom PD 1 earlier this year. The second PowerPort PD 2 charger is
expected to be available from April 29th, 2019 onwards priced at US$ 55 and offers
60W of charging power and is equipped with two USB-C ports and improved design.
Following a similar design to the original Atom PD
1, the new PD 2 charger supports the USB-C PD (Power Delivery) standard,
enabling it to charge nearly any USB-C device at full speed for anything up to
a rating of 60W. If you are in the need for more power in the form of 100W or
80W power supplies you will need to find a different device and the Atom PD 2
can only supply the full 60W to one device. When multiple devices are plugged
in Anker has designed the charger to intelligently manage the power based on
the demand from the connected devices.
