Xiaomi posted a video showing their double-folding
smartphone. This is after the image that their president Bin Lin posted back in
January. Xiaomi's version of a folding device was teased weeks before
Samsung's Galaxy Fold. Unlike the Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X, the Xiaomi
device has two folding "wings" at the top and bottom of the device.
When you fold both the top and bottom of the device,
the device transforms into a smartphone that seems to have shorter yet wider
display than most phones. Open it up and you get a tablet-sized device. Speculations point to a launch in
the second quarter of the year and could be priced at USD 999. This is
competitive pricing if true since both Samsung's and Huawei's folding
smartphones are relatively more expensive. Similar to the Mate X, Xiaomi's
device won't be hitting the US market.
Xiaomi spares know information about any press event
to showcase the foldable phone anytime soon. What we can expect is Xiaomi's
executive stir up more media attention and post more teasers on their Weibo
page.
There are no information about the specs, build,
cameras and even projected launch date yet. As of now, what we can do is
speculate. We will update you as soon as more information is revealed down the
line.
