The Sony Xperia XA3 may not be what we thought it
wouldbe – new product images have surfaced that show a 21:9 screen on the
front, the same aspect ratio as the XZ4 flagship.
Leakster @rquandt has been dropping hints that the
CAD-based renders didn’t show the front correctly. And now he just dropped a
cache of product images. The back looks the same with the horizontal dual
camera, but the front is different indeed.
The screen should have a 1,080 x 2,560px resolution
to cover the extra height. The diagonal is unknown as it’s not quite clear if
this is the Xperia XA3, XA3 Ultra or, say, the in-between Plus version.
Previous leaks pegged the XA3 screen at 5.9” and the Ultra at 6.5”.
The position of the side-mounted fingerprint reader
is curious too – it might be hard to reach on a 6.5” 21:9 device. We're not
sure what to think of the top bezel, either (it's bigger than the bottom
bezel). Anyway, the Xperia XA3 phones will use the Snapdragon 660 chipset and
may launch with the older Android 8.0 Oreo. The H4493 packed 6GB of RAM when it
was benchmarked and it should offer 64GB storage. The dual camera on the back
will use a 23MP main sensor.
