Fujifilm has announced the GFX 50R, a smaller and
lighter rangefinder style version of their popular GFX 50S with a more affordable
price! Back in 2017, Fujifilm shocked the world with their announcement of
the GFX 50S, a SLR style Medium Format camera at PHP 366,990 (or USD 5,499 +
Tax for the body only) compared to the competition with the same sensor like
the Mamiya Leaf Credo 50 that starts at USD 23,995 (or PHP 1.26 Million + Tax
for the body only). Within those two years, Fujifilm was able to release 7
lenses with three more to be release by 2020.
In late 2018, Fujifilm announced globally the GFX
50R, a smaller and lighter version of the GFX 50s but in a rangefinder style
body at a mere 775 grams with battery and SD card. It has the same 51.4MP, 43.8mm x 32.9mm sensor and
X-Processor Pro as the GFX 50S but with a fixed 3.69M-Dot 0.77x OLED EVF and a
2-way tilt 3.2" 2.36m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD that displays 100% of
the image frame.
It takes advantage of the Fujifilm G-Mount that has
access to the aforementioned 7 lenses and the 3 upcoming lenses. The other lens is the new Zoom
lens in the line, the GF 100-200 F/5.6 LM OIS WR with a 79-158mm full frame
field of view equivalent and weighs only at 1050 grams.
The Fujifilm GFX 50R is now available in the
Philippines via authorized dealers nationwide. It is under promo for the rest
of February where you can purchase the body only for PHP 259,990. But if you
want to get the GF 63mm with the body, you can can get both for PHP 279,990
instead of the SRP of PHP 343,980. The next kit is with the GF 32-64mm zoom,
you can get it now for PHP 335,990 instead of the SRP of PHP 388,980. Lastly,
is the body with the GF 45mm for only PHP 291,990 instead of the SRP of PHP
353,980.
