TCL-owned Alcatel has a bunch of mid-range phones
planned for the year. The new lineup includes the Alcatel 1s which we reported
a few weeks ago, the Alcatel 1V, and 2019 models of the Alcatel 3 and Alcatel
3V. The whole lineup including their specs were leaked by Evan Blass (@evleaks)
today.
The Alcatel 1s has a 5.56-inch HD+ display with a
screen-to-body ratio of 81.3%. Just as we reported a few weeks ago, the Alcatel
1s is powered by Spreadtrum’s SC9863A 1.6GHz octa-core (Cortex-A55) processor.
There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage paired with it.
The Alcatel 1s has a 13MP primary camera that is
interpolated to 16MP on its rear along with a 2MP sensor for capturing depth of
field details. In front is a 5MP camera interpolated to 8MP with its own LED
flash. It packs a 3,060mah battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and
runs Android Pie. It also has Face Key, Alcatel’s version of Face Unlock. The
front of the phone is covered with 2.5D glass while the back is made of plastic
with a brushed metal finish.
The Alcatel 1V joins the Alcatel 1C as an Android Go
phone but it runs the more recent Android Pie (Go Edition). I guess you know
which to buy now. The 1V has a 5.5-inch WVGA+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is
powered by an unnamed octa-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of
storage. There is an 8MP camera (interpolated to 13MP) on the back of the phone
and a 5MP camera (interpolated to 8MP) with its own LED flash in front. The Alcatel 1V also has a rear-mounted
fingerprint scanner and a 2,460mAh battery. It will come in blue with a
metallic finish.
The 2019 Alcatel 3 brings a number of new features
when compared to the last year’s model. The screen is now bigger at 5.94-inches
and it has a notch now – the U type just like that of the Essential PH-1. This
results in the top bezel getting shaved off. Alcatel says it has a
screen-to-body ratio of 89.6%.
There is a Snapdragon 450 processor along with 3GB
of RAM and 32GB of storage. A single 13MP camera sits on the back with an LED
flash and fingerprint scanner underneath it. The front camera is an 8MP sensor. The battery is also bigger now at
3500mAh. The front of the phone is covered with 2.5D glass. The rear has an
OPVM processing finish for a premium and glossy appearance.
The Alcatel 3C isn’t as powerful as the Alcatel 3
but it packs a much larger display – 6.7-inches to be precise. There is no
notch but the bezels are moderately sized. The display is an IPS panel with an
HD+ resolution.
Under its 3D textured back is MediaTek’s MTK8321
quad-core processor – a 1.3GHz chipset released back in 2017 for tablets. There
is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It has a single 8MP rear camera at the top
left corner and there is a fingerprint scanner in the middle. It also has
support for Face Key. The Alcatel 3C packs a measly 3,000mAh battery for its size.
Thankfully, it runs Android Pie.
The Alcatel 3L has a 5.9-inch HD+ display with a
notch at the top for a screen-to-body ratio of 88.4%. It is powered by the Snapdragon
429 along with 2GB of RAM. Storage is 16GB but should be expandable. It has dual rear cameras – 13MP +
5MP – with PDAF, real-time bokeh, a single-tone LED flash and AI features. The
front camera is an 8MP sensor with LCD flash to illuminate your face when
taking selfies.
Its battery is even bigger than that of the gigantic
Alcatel 3C at 3500mAh. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner
which is weird considering even the Alcatel 1V Android Go phone has one. It
also runs Android Oreo although Alcatel says Android Pie will be available. The phone has 2.5D glass in front
and a metallic finish for the rear.
The last but not the least is the 2019 version of
the Alcatel 3V which technically is a beefed-up version of the 3C and a
downgrade of some sort of last year’s model. It has the same massive 6.7-inch
HD+ 18:9 display, down from last year’s FHD+ panel. It is powered by an unnamed
octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
There is a dual-camera setup on the back which is
made up of a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. The selfie camera
is an 8MP sensor. Unlike the 3C which has a 3,000mAh battery, the 3V packs a
4000mAh battery. It also stereo speakers, Face Key, and a fingerprint scanner.
The back has a 3D textured finish.
There is no information about the specs of any of
the devices. There is also no info on availability. Nevertheless, we believe
some, if not all of them will be announced at MWC 2019.
