Unofficial renders of the Samsung Gear Sport
successor have arrived, courtesy of @OnLeaks. The CAD-based images show a
rounder, smoother design of the device, which is codenamed “Pulse”. The watch is round and has a
smooth bezel (similar to Gear S2). Last year’s Sport had a more square-ish
design and a knurled bezel. Even the two plungers have gone from rectangular to
round. The watch will be available in Black, Silver, Green and Pink Gold.
The screen size is likely 1.2” again, matching the
current Sport. Note that it’s not clear if the bezel will be rotating or not,
but seeing how it’s the defining feature of the Gear smartwatches, we doubt Samsung
will drop it.
The “Pulse” code name for the new Gear Sport is
perhaps a hint that Samsung will add ECG, after Apple and Withings. Chances are
that the watch will be unveiled at Samsung's Unpacked event for the Galaxy S10
or a few days later at the MWC.
