Adafruit has announced the arrival of the new
Raspberry Pi PoE Hat, making it available for US$ 20. Features of the Raspberry Pi
PoE Hat include : 802.3af PoE, fully isolated switched-mode power supply,
37–57V DC, Class 2 device, 5V/2.5A DC output and 25x25mm temperature-controlled
brushless fan to help keep everything running a little cooler.
Simply attach the standoffs in the four corners of
the HAT, then connect to the 40-pin header. Once the HAT is connected, you can
power your Pi through the RJ-45 network connector. “Power over Ethernet (PoE)
can make your project wiring a breeze – instead of needing a wire for power and
data, you can use one Ethernet cable for both” explains Adafruit.
