Virtual reality enthusiasts looking for a few extra
pixels in their headset may be interested to know that over the weekend Pimax
the general availability of its new 8K and 5K virtual reality headsets which
are now available to purchase priced at US$ 900 and US$ 700 respectively. Although
consumers will need to wait over 80 days to be able to receive the new headset
off the production line.
Due to funds to create the new virtual reality
headsets being raised via a successful Kickstarter campaign, final backers
should receive their VR headsets by “mid January to mid-late January 2019” says
Pimax. A chart provided by Pimax shows the company already has two production
lines in full effect with a third opening later this month to finish Kickstarter
pledge delivery. The Road to VR website explains a little more about the new
headsets availability. “ According to the chart, pre-order delivery is expected
to begin somewhere between January 13th and January 27th. Pimax isn’t allowing
queue-jumping with general orders though, as it remains steadfast in fulfilling
Kickstarter orders first, then pre-orders, then general sales orders.”
