At the Intelligent Hardware Cooperation Summit
taking place today in Guangzhou, China Mobile announced the first ever 5G Smart
Hub The “No. 1” – or so it appears to be called – is equipped with
Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and the world’s first
5G baseband Snapdragon X50, supporting multiple frequency bands.
In terms of network performance, the No. 1 has a
downlink peak speed of up to 2Gbps , an upload speed of 1Gbps and a delay of
less than 20 ms, providing intelligent 5G access for a variety of scenarios,
including personal, home and industry applications.
In terms of appearance, the No.1 packs a large touch
screen, rounded corners and two side speakers. There’s also an opening on the
back for heat dissipation, while beneath it we find a 7600mAh battery. From the official photos, the can
see the device has an USB Type-C, SIM card slot, RJ45 network port, 3.5mm
headphone jack and more.
Now the question is, what kind of device is this? A
portable hot spot? A smart home assistant? Hopefully we’ll learn more about it
very soon. What’s certain is that we’ll have to wait a little bit before the 5G
HUB can connect to China Mobile’s 5G network which is scheduled to spread in Q3
of next year.
