The rumor mill never sleeps as the first set of
rumors for the Huawei P30-series are starting to surface. First, there was the
rumor about the P30 Pro sporting a still unannounced Sony IMX607 sensor and
now we have a fairly specific one given how much time is left until the
release. According to industry sources, Huawei's P30 Pro will have a notch and
a curved OLED panel.
That's quite strange given the fact that Huawei is
about to release two phones with a punch hole in the display for the
front-facing camera - the Honor View 20 and the Huawei Nova 4. But it's more
complicated than that.
It appears that Samsung is currently the only OLED
maker that produces such panels, or in other words - Infinity-O displays. So
Huawei is once again stuck with BOE and LG to be the suppliers for its OLEDs,
which in turn means that the front design will be almost identical to that of
the Huawei Mate 20 Pro - wide notch and curved glass panel. A waterdrop-styled
notch is a possibility too.
However, it's too early to tell if this is in fact
the case. In two or three months time, a lot could change and Samsung might be
able to supply Huawei with its Infinity-O screens after all. Yet, the
information comes from a reputable source so there's that.
