Xiaomi has launched its first Android TV set-top box
specifically designed for the US market in the form of the Xiaomi Mi Box,
offering 4K HDR streaming at up to 60fps for US$ 60. The small set-top box can
also play games, run applications and stream music.
Powered by the same Amlogic S905X quad-core ARM
Cortex-A53 processor with Mali-450 graphics, as in the previously launched
Xiaomi Mi Box. The processor is supported by 2GB of RAM and the set-top box is
equipped with 8GB of eMMC internal storage. Although further external storage
can be added via the USB connection.
Preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system the
Mi Box S also comes with a new remote control equipped with a handy Google
Assistant button. The Xiaomi Mi Box S also supports Dolby DTS for
high-definition audio, Bluetooth 4.2, one HDMI 2.0A port, one audio out port,
and one USB 2.0 port and dual-band WiFi.

The Mi Box S will be available to purchase
throughout the United States from Walmart starting on October 19th 2018 and
pre-orders are expected to open imminently.
