A new mini PC has been unveiled by electronics
manufacturer Plater in the form of the Plater Kodlix WB1, which is expected to
be made available before 2019. Designed to support options for Core i3-8145U
dual-core, Core i5-8265U quad-core, or Core i7-8565U quad-core processors the
mini PC is one of the first Whiskey Lake-U systems available.
To recap the Whiskey Lake-U CPUs are part of the
same 8th generation Core processor family as the Kaby Lake Refresh U-series
chips Intel launched in 2017. Although one difference is that they have
integrated support for Gigabit WiFi and offer a higher turbo/boost speed for
slightly better performance when compared to the Kaby CPU.
Other features of the Plater Kodlix WB1 mini PC
include a handy microSD card slot, 4 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB Type-C port, 2 x
HDMI 2.0 ports and connectivity provided by Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac WiFi and
Bluetooth 4.0. Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide
availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to
light, we will keep you updated as always.
