After the successful launch of the Mate 20 series,
Huawei launched the ST1310-S1, their own 1TB external back-up hard drive The Huawei drive is designed to
work directly specifically with the Mate 20 series. It is a round-shaped device
covered in fabric that looks like a hybrid of a wireless charger and a discreet
smart speaker. Inside, it has a 1TB device that can automatically or manually
back up your Mate 20's data. It also has a charging capability. You just need
to connect a 5V2A, 9V2A Huawei fast charge adapter or a 5V4.5A Huawei super
fast charge adapter and then connect your device on the other side to charge
it.
There is a big potential in terms of the back up
functionality here if done properly. It could either be just a way to back up
photos, documents and other data or even be able to create a restoration file
like Window's System Restore point in case your phone acts up and needs a
refresh. The drive is also limited to the Mate 20 series for now but it is
stated that Huawei plans on expanding device support.
There's no information yet about the pricing but the
first batch is set to be officially available on October 26th. Local
availability is yet to be confirmed but we will update you as soon as we have
the information.
