Perhaps best known for its extensive lineup of
InvisibleShield screen protectors designed specifically for the world’s most
popular smartphones, tablets and smartwatches, Zagg is also the parent company
of battery case specialist Mophie, as well as the creator of some of the best
keyboard covers around.
The self-described “global leader in accessories
that empower mobile lifestyles” currently sells both tablet keyboards made
exclusively for Apple’s latest iPads and universally compatible products like
the newly unveiled Flex.
Priced at a very reasonable US$ 69.99 (although
currently listed for $79.99 on the company’s official website), the Zagg Flex
universal keyboard and stand is slated for an expansion to
“select” Verizon stores
nationwide in “early September.”
The 9-inch keyboard can be wirelessly paired with
iOS, Android and Windows tablets up to 12 inches in size, as well as
smartphones and even “most” smart TVs available right now over a standard
Bluetooth connection.
A nifty protective cover can be easily folded into a
stand allowing you to prop up your handset or slate at a convenient viewing
angle. The stand is detachable for an extra touch of versatility, protecting
the keyboard from scrapes and scratches when not in use.
The Zagg Flex is described as “lightweight” and
“portable”, although no numbers are shared to support that statement. If you do
want to hear an impressive number, how about two years? Yup, this bad boy’s
rechargeable battery can purportedly keep the lights on for up to 24 months
without hugging a wall, as long as you limit your use to an average of an hour
per day.
“Laptop-style” keys preventing typing errors by
“minimizing the chances of accidentally hitting an adjacent key” and
multi-pairing technology supporting two devices at once are also among the
chief selling points of the flexible and inexpensive Zagg Flex.
