Vivo may be working on a version of its NEX A
smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The assumption is derived
from a model name listed in a certification with the Chinese Ministry of
Industry and Information Technology. The model in the listing is the
vivo NEX UD A, UD meaning under display fingerprint and it's logical to assume
that it's just a NEX A with an in-display fingerprint scanner and no scanner on
the back.
Meanwhile in Russia, four mystery vivo devices have
been certified with the Eurasian Economic Commission. The model numbers are
vivo 1807, vivo 1811 and vivo 1812 but those tell us nothing about the devices
at this time.
The vivo NEX A has firmly stood in the more upper
class NEX S' shadow but is still quite impressive in terms of specs. It has
traded the NEX S' Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8GB of RAM for a Snapdragon 710
and 6GB of RAM but retains all the other excellent features of the NEX S like
the ample 4,000mAh battery, 12MP + 5MP main camera, the pop-up 8MP selfie camera
and the lovely 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display.
