As well as announcing the new Nikon Z7 and Z6
full-frame mirrorless cameras, Nikon has also announced the launch of its new
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR fixed focal length super-telephoto lens
compatible with the Nikon FX format.
Designed to provide “exceptional agility” to make
“hand-held super-telephoto photography enjoyable”. The AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E
PF ED VR lens is equipped with a Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element significantly
reducing the size and weight of the lens. Specifications include a maximum
diameter of 106 mm and length of 237 mm, AF speed has been increased by making
lens elements in the focusing group lighter. The AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED
VR is equipped with a VR mechanism that offers camera shake compensation
equivalent to a 4.0-stop increase in shutter speed.
