Cat briefly showcased the B35 rugged featurephone
during this year's IFA and now the company is ready to reveal its complete
details along with a launch time frame. It is IP68 water and dust
protected meaning it can go up to 1.2 m under water for 35 minutes. The chassis
is also shock-proof and Cat has says it can survive 1.8m drops on concrete.
Additionally, the handset is MIL-810G compliant so it can handle extreme cold,
heat, salt mist, humidity and vibration.
The internals are hardly impressive, but then you
wouldn't expect that from a featurephone anyway. You get a Snapdragon 205
driving a 2.4-inch QVGA display. Memory is just 512MB while storage is 4GB but
can be expanded via microSD card. A 2,300 mAh battery helps the B35 run KaiOS
2.5 feature OS with Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Search and YouTube
all pre-installed apps.
Cat says the B35 is hitting the shelves in early
October, which is not that far away now. Pricing is yet to be confirmed though.
