ZTE is in a situation that we wouldn’t wish it on
anyone. The company has canceled or delayed almost all of its smartphones. This
will throw it back for a few years. And there is no assumption whether ZTE can
rise again. However, at this moment, the only smartphone that managed to be
launched is the ZTE Blade V9. It was announced back in February at MWC 2018
along with the Blade V9 Vita. On August 6, the phone became available for
pre-order. And today, it officially went on sale at price tags of 999 yuan
(US$ 144) and 1099 yuan (US$ 159), required for the 4+32GB and 4+64GB versions,
respectively.
ZTE Blade V9 is
equipped with a 5.7-inch full-screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution
of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It also uses a double-glass housing and a metal frame.
According to the official introduction, the phone uses a multi-layer aurora
glass, including an optical ink layer, a UV reflective layer, a silk screen
layer, an electronic laser engraving layer, a streamer ink layer, a curved
glass layer, a PET explosion-proof layer, a chemical oleophobic layer, etc.
There are four colors to choose from – magic night black, rising sun gold,
space silver, and aurora blue. The phone has dimensions of 151.4 × 70.6 ×
7.5mm. Therefore, it’s ideal for single-hand operations.
Under the hood, the ZTE Blade V9 carries a
Snapdragon 450 chip, seen on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 first. It is based on a 14nm
process node and is paired with a 3+32GB or 4+64GB of memory combination. The
rest of the key features include a 3100mAh battery, 16+5MP rear camera (with an
aperture of F/1.8, a pixel unit area of 1.12μm, PDAF 2.0 fast focus support,
etc.), 8MP front shooter supporting AI beauty and face unlock, and Android 8.0
out of the box.
