Sony announced three new audio gears with the
MDR-Z7M2 premium headphones, IER-M9 and IER-M7 in-ear stage monitor earphones. First off, the MDR-Z7M2 is an
over-the-ear headphones that is a follow-up to the MDR-Z7. It inherits a lot of
MDR-Z1R's tech from the Signature series such as the Fibonacci-patterned grill
and the 4.4mm connection cable. It has a 70mm HD driver with aluminum-coated
Kiquid Crystal Polymer diaphragm.
The MDR-Z7M2 offers a wide frequency response,
dynamic range, and linear plane wave that works to give listeners a realistic
sound reproduction for music instruments and voices. It also has a 3D and
spatial sound experience alike to a live music space.
It also has a Beat Response Control which is a
special acoustic port on the housing that controls airflow behind the driver
and optimizes diaphragm movement during reproduction of low frequencies. It
also comes with two different cables. It has a standard unbalanced cable and a
balanced connection cable. Connection is secured via a screw lock-ring
mechanism.
In terms of the In-Ear stage monitors, the IER-M9
and IER-M7 are Sony's debut products. Both of these in-ear monitors are
designed to deliver sound quality that is similar to those used by
professionals when they perform on stage. It can provide great sound isolation
and stable fit to avoid the headphones falling off during your performance.
Both the M9 and M7 has the multi balance armature
(BA) system that can give the best tonal balance for stage monitoring. The M9
has a Penta BA system (5 BA/5 way) with a super tweeter while the M7 has a Quad
BA system (4 BA/4 way). This will help distinguish different tones during
performance and produce harmony.
The MDR-Z7M2 will be available in select Asia
Pacific countries starting September 2018. The IER-M9 and IER M7 is set to
be officially available this August 2018.
