Smartisan has launched a new Pure White colour
variant of the Nut R1 with 512GB storage and a decent price tag. The Smartisan
Nut R1 is the company’s 2018 flagship which was announced in May. The
smartphone was spectacular for other reasons aside from its stunning design.
The device comes as the company’s first model with 1TB of internal storage and
indeed the first smartphone to have such huge storage capacity. It initially
comes in Black colour only but a Pure White variant available in 6GB + 128GB
and 8GB + 128GB was announced last month. Perhaps buoyed by the popularity of
the new colour variant, Smartisan now decided to add a variant with 512GB UFS
2.1 flash memory.
The new variant comes with 8GB LPDDR4X memory and
apart from the RAM and storage, the model is basically similar to the regular
Nut R1. The device is entirely coated in white with the red accent on the black
variant absent. The variant is priced at 4,999 yuan (US$ 726) which is similar to
the 8GB RAM + 512GB Black coloured variant.
The Smartisan Nut R1 comes with an
expansive 6.17-inch pressure sensitive display with a 2242 x 1080 resolution
and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3
protection and equally has 1500:1 contrast ratio, and a 96% color gamut
(DCI-P3). The device packs an ultra-thin body and as a result, there is no
3.5mm audio jack but it ships with a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter inside the retail
box. It features a dual camera setup comprising a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor and a
second 20MP Sony IMX350 lens. While at the front, there is a 24MP camera. The
Nut R1 is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset and has a host of network bands
including LTE Band 20 which positions it for sales overseas. Keeping the lights
on is a 3600mAh battery.
