TCL purchased Palm more than three years ago, but the
Chinese company decided to keep the brand buried rather than reviving it. TCL
owns the license to manufacture and sell BlackBerry smartphones, which seems to
be what it's been focusing on in the last couple of years. The good news is Palm's time
might have come, as a new device tagged with model number PVG100 has just
received its FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and Wi-Fi Alliance
certifications.
Unfortunately, nothing about the phone's specs has
transpired from the official documents filed at these regulatory agencies.
However, we do know that the Palm PVG100 is a smartphone that runs Android 8.1
Oreo, which means that TCL will most likely launch it this year.
We've heard about a mysterious Palm smartphone that
could be headed to Verizon back in March. Combining that rumor with today's
data, we wouldn't be surprised to see Palm being revived at some point this
year.
