HMD Global sends out invites for the upcoming launch
of the Nokia 2.1 and 3.1 in the Philippines. Those two are the latest budget
smartphones of the company. The Nokia 2.1 is the upgrade of the Nokia 2 last year. It now goes
with a Nordic design with rounded accent, scratch resistance, bigger screen,
speedier specs, better multimedia features, and Oreo (Go edition) OS which is
upgradable to Android P.
In particular, it boasts a 5.5-inch HD 1280 x 720
resolution screen which is better for multimedia purposes. Under the hood, it is now powered
by the Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz
with Adreno 308 GPU.
It is paired with 1GB RAM, 8GB expandable storage up
to 128GB via microSD card slot, and 4,000mAh battery. On the camera part, it has an 8MP
AF main camera with single LED flash and a 5MP selfie snapper.
It even has a dual front firing stereo speakers. As
expected, it has WiFi, 4G LTE Cat 4, GPS, and dual SIM slots. It'll come in
blue copper, blue silver, and grey silver color options. This phone boots with Android
Oreo (Go edition) out of the box.
On the other hand, the Nokia 3.1 is the speedier
device powered by Android One. It is equipped with a dual anodized diamond cut
body, polycarbonate back, and compact design. The Nokia 3.1 has a 5.2-inch 2.5D
IPS screen with HD+ 1440 x 720 resolution and 18:9 screen aspect ratio.
Inside, it is powered by MediaTek's 64-bit MT6750
octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. It will come with either 2GB or
3GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD card, 2,990mAh
battery.
On the camera part, it has a 13MP f/2.0 main camera
with AF and single LED flash at the back and an 8MP f/2.0 84.6-degree wide-angle
front camera sensor. It also has WiFi 802.11b/g/n, 4G LTE Cat 4, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS,
and GLONASS. It also has proximity, light, accelerometer, and gyroscope
sensors.
The phone boots with pure Android 8.0 Oreo OS under
the Android One program. It will be updated to Android P as well. The phone measures at 146.25 x 68.65 x 8.7 mm and
weighs at 138.3 grams. It'll come in blue copper, black chrome, and white iron colors.
Both phones will be available in the Philippines on
August 15.
