When the Meizu 16 series smartphones were announced,
everybody fell in love with them. They were designed so attractively that they
were able to win the love and enthusiasm of consumers. But this also caused a
serious problem – it’s quite difficult to order any of these phones and get
them in time. To solve this issue, the manufacturer has also opened a full
channel of reservations on the official website. But you have to wait for 4 – 8
weeks before your order will reach you. Yesterday, Huang Zhang, Meizu president
issued a statement in the Meizu forum that there had been over 1mln pre-orders
on the official website. And though they have ordered parts, seems the delivery duration won’t be reduced. He also talked about the
Meizu 16s.
Besides great design, powerful hardware, and a
number of innovations, there is also, at least, one attractive thing – the
price. As you know, it’s considered to be the cheapest Snapdragon 845
smartphone, the price tag of which is lower than that of the Mi 8 by 1 yuan.
Actually, this decision has been made by Huang Zhang. As Meizu CMO and senior
vice president Li Nan said in an interview, Meizu needed a smartphone that
could have a huge impact on customers. Only, with its help, they can win back
customers’ interest towards Meizu. So the gross profit of the channel has been
reduced to a minimum. Moreover, he said, in the nearest future, the Meizu 16
smartphones’ prices will remain unchanged.
At the same time, Huang Zhang was asked about the
follow-up update of Meizu. He said that next year will be the 16th anniversary
of Meizu, but there is no Meizu 17. Instead, they will launch the Meizu 16s in
May next year. This handset will continue the same design style and will add
some lacking features such as NFC and wireless charging.
