Xiaomi smartphones are fairly popular in Bangladesh
despite the lack of official stores in the country, so it's no wonder the
company is now officially entering the country. Manu Kumar Jain, company's Vice
President and Managing Director in India, announced that Chinese vendor is
setting foot in Bangladesh starting with three smartphones - the Redmi
S2, Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5.
The devices will be available for purchase through
463 Mi authorized offline stores while Daraz Bangladesh will take orders
online. The pricing of the Redmi S2 is BDT 14,999 (US$ 178) for the 3GB/32GB
memory variant or BDT 17.999 (US$ 213) for the 4GB/64GB configuration. The Redmi 5
is expected to go even lower - at around BDT 13,990 (US$ 165). Sales start on July
26 at 2 PM local time.
