Google today on the second day of Cloud Next 2018
announced its own 2FA Security Key as part of the Titan secure elements family.
It also introduced the Edge TPU for the Internet of Things. Google last year
has mentioned its intentions to “built micro-controller” for servers in its
data centers.
The Titan Security Key features Google’s firmware so
it becomes easier to verify the physical key’s integrity. It also features
physical Security Keys that are especially phishing-resistant with two-factor
authentication. The Key comes with NFC, Bluetooth, and charging over USB-C for
mobile devices, while another uses a standard USB port and connects to laptop
computers. Google says that the Titan Security Key can be purchased by Google
Cloud customers.
Moving along, Google has announced the Edge TPU, a
purpose-built ASIC chip designed to run TensorFlow Lite models. It runs on
machine running models with the focus on “performance per watt” and
“performance per dollar.” It will be able to run influencers, make local,
real-time, and intelligent decisions “at the edge.”
Google is also announcing context-aware access
capabilities and it is now available for select customers in beta for VPC
Service Controls, and coming soon to beta for Cloud IAM, Cloud IAP, and Cloud
Identity. Shielded VMs, available now in beta, while the Binary Authorization
will be coming soon to beta, container Registry Vulnerability Scanning is
coming soon to beta, and the Cloud Armor geo-based access control, available
now in beta.
