Compulab has announced the availability to preorder
their new Mintbox Mini 2 PC, a collaboration between the Linux Mint team and
Compulab. The new mini PC is available in two configurations with prices
starting from US$ 299 for a Intel Celeron J3455 quad-core Apollo Lake processor
supported by 4GB of RAM and equipped with a 64GB solid state drive (SSD).
If you require a little extra RAM and storage the
Mintbox Mini 2 Pro with 8GB of RAM and a 120GB SSD is available to preorder priced
at US$ 349. The systems are now available from the Fir-lot website and will be
available from larger retailers such as Amazon during August 2018.
Both Mintbox Mini 2 PCs ship pre-installed with the
Linux Min 19 operating system and feature a fanless design with an all-metal
design with aluminium and zinc die cast parts, cooling fins as in the picture
above. Other features and connections include 2 x mini DIsplayPort outputs
offering support for 4K 60Hz video and one HDMI 1.4 output with 4K 30Hz
support.
Additional connections include 2 x USB 3.0 and 2 x
USB 2.0 ports, a microSDXC slot, 2 x 1 GbE interfaces, and connectivity via
both 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1 WLAN as well as a handy serial COM.
