In March, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 5 in
three models in China. The 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM, 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM
and 64 GB storage + 6 GB RAM were respectively made available for 1,099 Yuan
(US$ 171), 1,399 Yuan (US$ 218) and 1,699 Yuan (US$ 263). Except for the highest
configuration model, Xiaomi has slashed the pricing of other two models.
As the following posters reveal, the Xiaomi Redmi
Note 5 model featuring 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM is now available with a
discount of 100 Yuan. The new pricing of this model is (US$ 15). The 64 GB
storage + 4 GB RAM edition of the Note 5 has a bigger price cut of 200 Yuan
(US$ 30). It is now available for 1,199 Yuan (US$ 187).
The Redmi Note 5 has a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display
that supports FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The Snapdragon 636 chipset
powers the smartphone along with 4,000mAh battery. For photography, it features
12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup and an LED equipped front-facing
camera of 13-megapixel. The handset is
preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo that is overlaid with the latest edition of
MIUI 9.
In related news, a tipster from India has claimed
that the China will be getting the Redmi Note 5 in a new color variant of Flame
Red. The handset is currently available in color choices like Black, Gold, Rose
Gold and Lake Blue in the home country. The same leakster has predicted that
the Redmi 6 launch event on June 12 will also bring along other phones like
Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro.
