On June 9, Xiaomi officially announced that Xiaomi
Mi 8 blue and gold version will be officially launched at 10:00 am on June 12
and it will have a starting price of 2,699 Yuan (US$ 420).
However, as a flagship product, one of the main
highlight of Xiaomi Mi 8 is its camera. Xiaomi Mi 8 uses the same rear camera
module as the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S. The wide-angle lens is a 12MP Sony IMX363
sensor with a F/1.8 aperture and the unit pixel area is 1.4μm. It supports Dual
PD, dual-focus and the telephoto lens aperture is F/2.4. DxOMark rated Xiaomi
Mi 8 rear camera very highly as it scored 105 points which is 4 points higher
than iPhone X.
Another highlight of Xiaomi Mi 8 is its
dual-frequency GPS which has attracted the attention of the world leaders in
GPS technology. It is the world’s first smartphone equipped with dual-frequency
GPS. It supports dual-frequency positioning using the L1 band of 1575.42 MHz
and the L5 band of 1176.45 MHz, which can effectively avoid the problem of
inaccurate measurements. Xiaomi Mi 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
chipset coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. It
is equipped with a 6.21 inches Samsung OLED screen and its lights are kept on
by a 3400mAh battery.
