Homegrown company Portronics has launched a smart
home and office Wi-Fi security doorbell, called mBell, in the Indian market.
The doorbell features a camera that can stream video to a smartphone. With
mBell, the company wants to replace video doorbells, by providing additional
security features. Notably, the Portronics mBell is priced at Rs. 10,999 and is
available at all online and leading retail stores across India.
The Portronics mBell is a smart rechargeable
doorbell that can connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. When someone presses the
mBell smart doorbell, members of the house will hear a sound and will also be
able to see the person at the door on their smartphones. Notably, the video
streams at 720p HD quality. Users will also be able to speak to the person from
their smartphones.
Portronics mBell users will be able to access the
features by installing a free WeHome app on their Android or iOS devices. The
company says that mBell provides up to 180-degrees horizontal and over
100-degrees vertical view span. This essentially means that even if the person
at the doorstep is on sides of the mBell or at a lower angle, you will be able
to see them on your phone "just by moving the fingers on your mobile app
screen in the WeHome mobile app."
Another security feature of the Portronics mBell is
that it allows users to remotely wake up the mBell to view the outside of the
door at any time even if the doorbell is not pressed. This feature could come
handy when you are not at home.
The mBell is also equipped with inbuilt IR
Nightvision up to 9 feet for streaming in low-light conditions. Additionally,
there is a motion-detection sensor in the mBell that allows you to see if there
are any movements outside the door.
In the device, there is a USB charging port, On/ Off
Button, Reset Button, and an Alarm button. Notably, the Portronics mBell also
comes with IP67 water and dust proof rating. It is powered by a 4000mAh battery
that is claimed to work for up to 3-4 months without needing another recharge.
