Panasonic's latest waterproof camera, the Lumix FT7,
is waterproof to 31 metres, dustproof, shockproof to two metres, and pressure
resistant to 100 kgf. With rubber padding and reinforced glass inside the
camera, the FT7's body excludes water,
dust and sand, making it suitable for popular outdoor activities throughout the
year – such as fishing, camping, diving, surfing and rock climbing.
Its external case has been thickened to
withstand underwater pressure, while folded optics prevent damage to the lens
if the camera is dropped during operation. The rear monitor is protected with
tempered glass. It can also withstand temperatures down to -10ÂșC to suit users
who participate in skiing and snowboarding. The camera also includes a built-in
compass, altimeter and a handy ‘torch light’ via the LED - making it the
perfect partner for outdoor adventurers and holiday makers.
The FT7's 6.17 x 4.55 mm high-sensitivity MOS sensor
has an effective resolution of 20.4 megapixels and the new camera can record 4K
Video in 3840 x 2160 at 25p. Panasonic's 4K Photo modes include the 4K
Pre-burst mode, which records 30 frames per second before and after the shutter
is released to capture the defining shot. The Post Focus feature, once set,
allows you to choose the focal point of an image after it’s been taken. The new
camera also supports high-speed burst shooting at 10 frames per second in full
resolution for up to 11 frames with the mechanical shutter or 5 fps with
continuous AF. High Speed Video is available for fast motion recording in HD
(1280x720) at 100 fps, along with Time Lapse and Stop Motion Animation. The
Creative Control mode includes 22 filter effects.
The FT7 includes a Live View Finder (LVF) with
1,170,000-dot resolution plus an easy to view 3.0-inch, 1,040,000-dot rear
monitor. Image output between the LVF and the rear monitor can be quickly
switched with a dedicated button. Power O.I.S stabilisation is built into the
lens to suppress handshake. Built-in Wi-Fi streamlines sharing of images,
geotagging and remote control via smartphone. The FT7 can be charged via USB
cable direct to the camera, anywhere there is a USB power source.
The Lumix FT7 will be offered in Orange or Black at
an RRP of AUD 599. It is due to go on sale at photographic specialists and
consumer electronics retailers in July 2018.
