HMD Global is not over with smartphones for the
remaining of the year, even though the Finnish company has just launched three
new handsets less than a month ago. That's totally fine, but we are questioning
the company's naming scheme is a bit confusing not just for the media, but for
consumers as well.
After launching the Nokia 5 and Nokia 5.1 on the
market, HMD plans to released yet another mid-range Android smartphone called
Nokia 5.1 Plus. The folks over at OnLeaks have created a bunch of CAD renders
of the unannounced smartphone showing a dual-camera on the back, a rare feature
to be included in a mid-range handset.
More importantly, the Nokia 5.1 Plus has a notched
display, so there's a high chance that the smartphone will be launched
worldwide as a response to the positive feedback the company's Nokia X6
received after its China-exclusive release.
Little is know about the Nokia 5.1 Plus in terms of
specs, but we do know it will measure 149.5 x 71.9 x 8mm. Also, the smartphone
is rumored to feature a large 5.7-inch display and a MediaTek Helio P23
processor.
If HMD does indeed plan to launch another smartphone
such as the Nokia 5.1 Plus, it's likely that it will be introduced in late
August at IFA 2018 trade fair.
