Microsoft Surface owners patiently waiting for the
arrival of the previously unveiled Microsoft Surface USB-C dongle will be
pleased to know that it will be available to purchase priced at US$ 80 from June
29th, 2018 onwards. Supporting the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices,
and provide USB-C support for accessories.
The currently available range of Surface Pro and
Surface Laptop systems do not currently support USB-C, and only the Surface
Book 2 is equipped with a USB-C connector. Microsoft unveiled the new USB-C
dongle over 12 months ago which is approximately the size of a standard Surface
charger, measuring 82mm x 40mm x 20mm, with an overall length including Surface
Connect Cable of 284mm. With an external power source offering a minimum power
output of 27W and 12V.
Microsoft explains more, “add our Surface Connect to
USB-C Adapter to the newest Surface Pro to attach to USB-C docking solutions
with expanded connectivity to external displays, power, and more”. Supported
operating systems require Windows 10 version 1703 and above. Supported devices
include the Surface Pro (models 1796 and 1807) and Surface Laptop (Model 1769).
