T-Mobile subscribers who would rather not shell out
the big bucks for a top-shelf smartphone, now have a new budget-priced option
in the LG Aristo 2 Plus. You can pay US$ 150 for the phone, lock, stock and
barrel, or pay US$ 6 down and US$ 6 a month over 24 months. Before we even get to the
specs, we should point out that the device supports T-Mobile's 600MHz network.
The carrier purchased 31MHz of the stuff during last year's FCC auction,
spending US$ 7.9 billion for the airwaves.
Low-frequency spectrum travels farther and
penetrates buildings better, and only a few handsets on T-Mobile's lineup
currently support the 600MHz band; the LG Aristo 2 Plus is the cheapest 600MHz
option for the wireless operator's subscribers.
The rest of the specs include a 5-inch LCD display
with a 720 x 1280 "HD" resolution. Powering the handset is a
Snapdragon 425 chipset, featuring a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 308 GPU. 2GB
of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage (9GB available to the user).
A 13MP rear-facing camera adorns the back (with PDAF) and there is a 5MP
front-facing selfie snapper included. The 2410mAh battery has a surprise; it is
removable! There is a fingerprint scanner on the device, and Android 7.1.2 is
pre-installed.
