Leica has now released a special edition camera finished in
stealth black. Called the Stealth Edition, the special edition is based on the
Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) and has been created in collaboration with Marcus
Wainwright, the founder and CEO of the fashion label Rag & Bone. Marcus,
who’s a fan of black-and-white photography and a dedicated Leica user, wanted
to emphasize the stealthy nature of shooting Leica cameras.
The Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) “Stealth Edition”
features a murdered out matte black look across the entire unit with even its
letterings and markings darkened to go with the overall theme. But what’s
special about the camera is the letterings are covered in luminescent paint
that glows when the taken into a dark environment. The special edition Leica
also comes with a matching Summicron-M 35 mm f/2 ASPH lens, a black fabric
carrying strap, a metal front cap for the lens.
With a price tag of US$ 15,750, only 125 examples of the Stealth
Editions sold worldwide.
