The Huawei MediaPad M5 is now available in the U.S.
from Amazon and Newegg. The tablet is offered in two sizes, one with an
8.4-inch display, and a variant carrying a 10.8-inch screen. The displays each
feature a resolution of 1600 x 2500, and both slates are powered by the Kirin
960 SoC. The latter offers an octa-core CPU running at 2.36GHz, and the
Mali-G71 MP8 GPU is onboard to handle the graphics.
Both versions of the MediaPad M5 are equipped with
4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. For those seeking additional storage, a
256GB capacity microSD slot is available. The rear-camera on the device weighs
in at 13MP, and includes Phase detection autofocus. There is also an 8MP
front-facing selfie snapper. The tablet is equipped with a fingerprint scanner,
and while the 8.4-inch model sports a 5100mAh battery, a larger 7500mAh cell
keeps the lights on for the 10.8-inch version.
Offered in Gold and Gray, the Huawei MediaPad M5 has
Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. The price of the unit with the 8.4-inch display
is US$ 319 while the 10.8-inch model will set you back US$ 359. For US$ 90 more, you can
pick up the MediaPad M5 10.8 Pro, which includes the Huawei M Pen Stylus and a
keyboard dock. There is also a custom desktop UI offered with this model. You
