Those of you that enjoy retro gaming on the
Raspberry Pi might be interested in a new games console called TinyPi which is
soon to be launched by the Crowd Supply funding website. As the name suggests
TinyPi is being marketed as the world’s smallest Raspberry Pi based gaming
device and features a 1.44” colour screen offering users a resolution of
128×128 pixels.
Other features include a 5-way joystick offering 4
directions plus a center click, 3-way nav switch gives 2 more buttons and a
center click, stereo sound and of course a Raspberry Pi Zero W mini PC offering
1GHz cpu, 512MB ram, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. All powered by a 300mah
battery which is capable of providing enough juice for one hour of gameplay.
The system will be shipped as a kit and includes
everything you need to build your very own Raspberry Pi games console which is
small enough to fit in your pocket. “Ever wanted to scratch that gaming itch on
the go? well now you can have a fully fledged gaming device that can fit on
your keys. Based arround the Raspberry Pi, you have instant access to
retrogaming systems such as RetroPie and Pico-8”.
As well as playing classic and future classics games
on the TinyPi, you will also get the chance to hone your soldering skills in
building the TinyPi kit. Its creator explains a little more about the creation
and assembly process. “The kit tests your skills as well as your eyesight, but
with a steady hand you can soon be up and running. You can either choose the
base kit and design your own case, choose the full kit that has everything you
need, or order it fully built and tested.”
