After Razer Phone and Xiaomi Black Shark, a new
smartphone dedicated to gamers is going to be announced on April 19. It will be
called Nubia Red Devil (or Magic), and today ZTE’s sub-brand has published a
render which shows the handset partially. The image has been published by Ni
Fei on Weibo. In the image, we can see just a small part of the device which
should be the bottom right corner, but it gives important details about its
design. Given the presence of a U-shaped antenna band on the border, we can
deduce that Nubia Red Devil has a full metal unibody design.
The company logo has been placed on the right side
of the back cover and the phone has round corners and a curved metal frame.
Near the corner of the device, there is a weird element which seems to be
either a hole or a fender, but Ni Fei has not revealed why it is there. This
phone is expected to come with an innovative cooling system. According to
rumors, while Xiaomi Black Shark has a liquid cooling system, Nubia Red Devil may
sport an air cooling system with integrated fans. And what you see in the image
might be a hole to make the heat come out of the handset.
On the frame, there is another hole which should be
the microphone. Given that it is a gaming phone, Nubia Red Devil will be one of
the most powerful smartphones out there. It will be released with an octa-core
Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset running at a max frequency of 2.9 GHz, and the
SoC should be paired with up to 8 GB of RAM. Its display is expected to be a
6-inch panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio showing images at a Full HD+ resolution
of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The handset is also expected to boast frontally-mounted
stereo speakers.
