Kite Modular Smartphone



Kite a new DIY modular smartphone has launched via Kickstarter this week, allowing those interested to build a Snapdragon 450 based smartphone from US$ 274. If all goes well and the team raise the US$ 941,000 required to take the project into production backers can expect to receive their modular smartphone during January 2019.

Specifications for the smartphone include a Snapdragon 450, Octa-core ARM Cortex A53 1.8 GHz processor supported by 2 GB of RAM with a Adreno 506 GPU, together with 16 GB on-board storage and they microSD card slot for additional storage.

Kite is a DIY kit of electronic components that enabled those interested to build a smartphone with just a screwdriver. Creating a powerful Android smartphone that offers a “surreal Android experience” say it’s developers.Components of the Kite include a Snapdragon 450, Octa-core ARM Cortex A53 @ 1.8 GHz , 5″ 720p display module supporting 5 point touch, 12 MP camera module with autofocus, Antennas for LTE, WiFi/BT and GPS, Standard buttons (3x) Audio components: speaker, microphone, earpiece, and 3.5 mm audio socket, 3000 mAh LiPoly battery and Raspberry Pi HAT compatibility board.
