Xiaomi has added a new Mi Smart Socket to its
growing list of smart products. The Mi Smart Socket Enhanced edition will go on
sale from March 7 via Mi Mall with a price tag of 79 Yuan (US$ 12).
Xiaomi first launched a smart socket as far back as
2014. Thereafter, the company has launched a basic edition, a Zigbee version
and others. The new enhanced version has as its biggest feature dual USB
interface which can be used to charge devices that use the USB interface. Thus,
the new version can accommodate more devices but still maintain the same
compact design.
The Mi Smart Socket
allows you to enable or disable the socket, put timer using your phone via the
MIJIA app. You can also control the device from anywhere you are as long as
there is an internet connection. Thus, those who stay in low temperate regions
can set the device to switch on with the heater connected so as to come home to
a warm house. The socket has support for
BC1.2 protocol, remote control, timer switch, power statistics and other
functions.
The body is manufactured using a high-temperature resistant material.
There is also a built-in temperature sensor which alerts users if the socket
becomes too hot as a result of heavy load. Apart from the alert, if the
temperature becomes too high, the smart socket will automatically cut off the
power to reduce the risk.
