This week hardware manufacturer SolidRun has
unveiled their new i.MX8 family of boards including SOM, SBC, and new CuBox
Pulse mini PCs. The new hardware follows on from the successful i.MX6 based
family and the new range includes the i.MX8 SOM, HummingBoard Pulse single
board computer pictured above and CuBox Pulse fanless mini PC.
The new mini PCs harness the powerful i.MX8M
processors, and the new range will harness up to four 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A53
cores with a Cortex M4 general purpose processor. Providing high-speed
connectivity, flexible memory options and support for 4K UltraHD resolution and
HDR. Specifications for the i.MX8 SOM are in line with SolidRun’s approach to
offer a “range of building blocks, the new SOM will allow developers and OEMs
to speed up development and reduce costs and TTM. The company’s mix-and-match
concept will allow users to easily switch between different SOM grades and
configurations as needed”, says SolidRun.
The HummingBoard Pulse mini PC will be launched as
part of SolidRun’s HummingBoard family of SBCs, and offers the flexibility and
features of the HummingBoard platform paired with the robust abilities of the
i.MX8M processor. The CuBox Pulse mini PC measuring just at only 2″ x 2″ x 2″
square will offer a small yet powerful mini PC which can be used for home
entertainment, digital signage and a wide host of multimedia applications,
offering “unparalleled audio and video capabilities”. CuBox Pulse will be
offered in a number of configurations based around the i.MX8 Dual, Quad and
Quad Lite SOMs.
The new range of mini PCs equipped with i.MX8 SOM
will be available in a number of base configurations, with other possible
variations available depending on user needs starting from US$ 80. The
HummingBoard Pulse is currently available in one SBC configuration with a
choice of SOM configurations from US$ 160. While the small CuBox Pulse mini PC is
currently offered in two variations from US$ 170 with more to follow in the near
