The Oppo F7 is official and it fills the gap between
Oppo's entry level A1 and the flagship Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror. On the
front the Oppo F7 packs in a 6.23-inch 2280x1080px LCD with a tall 19:9 aspect
ratio and a notch housing the 25MP selfie camera, the earpiece and the sensors.
The front camera is the selling point of the
self-styled "Selfie Expert" Oppo F7. It's a 25MP f/2.0 shooter and
the presentation was very keen to point out all the software enhancements it
brings. First off the front camera is HDR-capable so it promises well-exposed
selfies in a wide range of lighting conditions. Second it's AI-equipped - it
will recognize if the subject is male or female and "enhance" their
features accordingly - even in the same photo. There's a Vivid mode, which as
the name suggests will make colors more saturated. Plus you get AR Stickers,
which every phone seems to have nowadays - put rabbit ears on your head and
watch them follow your movement around.
The selfie camera is used for Facial Unlock too. The
software uses some 128 recognition points to identify your face and will not
unlock if your eyes are closed. The Oppo F7 comes with a MediaTek P60 chipset
with its octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB
of expandable storage. Sadly the 3,400 mAh battery doesn't seem to come with
VOOC support for quick recharging.
The phone is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo, which is
the latest available version with the heavily customized ColorOS 5.0 launcher
on top. The Oppo F7 goes on sale in India on April 9 and will be a Flipkart
exclusive for online sales. The 4GB model is at INR 21,990 (€ 273) while
the 6GB+128GB model hikes up the asking price to INR 26,990 (around € 336). The
regular F7 will come in Solar Red, Moonlight Silver and Diamond Black while the
F7 128GB will come in Solar Red and Diamond Black.
