The official Raspberry Pi Foundation has today
announced a new addition to the ever-growing range of Raspberry Pi mini PC
systems with the launch of the new more powerful Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
equipped with dual-band wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2/BLE, faster Ethernet, and
Power-over-Ethernet support via a separate PoE HAT.
Specifications for the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
include a Broadcom BCM2837B0, Cortex-A53 (ARMv8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.4GHz processor
supported by 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM, together with Extended 40-pin GPIO header and
powerful dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11.b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth
4.2, BLE support.
Other features include improved thermal management
and PXE network and USB mass-storage booting together with a 200MHz increase in
peak CPU clock frequency, as well as roughly three times the wired and wireless
network throughput when compared to the previous Raspberry Pi 3 mini PC.
