Certain games are better played using more classic
controllers because they just feel better. This is why arcade-style fight
sticks are favored in competitions. Well, if you’re a Nintendo Switch gamer who
loves fighting games but aren’t a fan of the joysticks on the Joy-Cons, here is
some good news for you.
It looks like Hori will be launching its very own
Joy-Con controller. But this controller is only for the left side of the
console. The highlight here is that it will feature a “proper” D-pad which is a
good alternative to arcade fight sticks. Since the Switch is portable this is
great. No need to lug around a heavy arcade style fight stick.
However, Hori’s version will not come with
motion-sensing, which means that for some games that require motion sensing,
you won’t be able to use Hori’s Joy-Con. That’s okay because it is ideal for
fighting games. It’s a fair trade-off.
The Joy-Con will be released in July in Japan for
2,678 yen. No word on whether it will come to the US or other markets, but
given that Hori does sell its accessories globally, we sure hope it does.
Fighting game fans are going to love this controller.
