Canadian developer Sean Hodgins has this week
launched his fourth Kickstarter crowdfunding project to raise the required
funds he needs to take the new PIXO Pixel Internet of Things RGB display into
production. Based on the ESP32 the display has been created to provide makers,
hobbyists and electronic enthusiasts with a way of easily controlling a matrix
of 256 or 16 x 16 RGB LEDs.
The Internet of Things connected display is now available to
backfire Kickstarter with pledges for early bird backers from £ 106 or CAD 185
fully assembled. Sean has also made available a kit priced at CAD 50 or £ 29
providing everything you need including bare circuit boards and hardware to
build it yourself if you would prefer.
The open source PIXO Pixel uses APA102-2020
addressable LEDs in a 16 x 16 array that measured just 2 mm x 2 mm each,
offering a very bright and fast system. The system supports both Bluetooth and
wireless connections and can be programmed using the Arduino IDE or MicroPython
preferred. The IoT RGB display also includes a prototyping board enabling you
to add more components such as an accelerometer, light sensor, thermometer or
anything else your project may require with ease.

crowdfunding campaign page.
