Owners of cherished vintage Bang & Olufsen
speakers may be interested in a new piece of hardware created thanks to a
partnership between Bang & Olufsen and HiFiBerry to create a new DIY open
source amplifier which can transform your classic speakers into smart speakers
supporting Bluetooth connectivity and the ability to stream music from a number
of sources.
By simply purchasing the new Beocreate 4 Channel
amplifier boards 2 x 30W and 2 x 60W, audio enthusiasts can install the new
hardware directly into their vintage speakers. Thanks to the power of the
awesome Raspberry Pi mini PC which simply plugs into the amplifier without any
soldering required. All software is included and allows users to activate a
Beovox CX50, CX100 or any generic speaker and enable support to play music via
Airplay, Bluetooth, Spotify or similar.
HiFiBerry says that the Beocreate 4 Channel
amplifier is capable of driving up to four of 4-8 Ohm speakers, with sample
rates of up to 192kHz. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about
the upgrade process and what you can expect from your newly transformed smart
speakers.
The Beocreate 4 Amplifier boards are now available
to purchase priced at US$ 189.
